The Corydon Central Vanguard (originally named the First Capital Vanguard changed in the mid 1980’s) is under the direction of Mr. Josh Stewart. In recent years the Vanguard has become a consistent competitor at the ISSMA State Marching Finals in Indianapolis. The Vanguard has made it to the state finals in 1990, 91, 92, 93, 94, 96, 97, 98, 2001. 03. The Vanguard prides itself on performing a exciting show every year that not only keeps the audiences attention, but keeps the performers attention all season. Starting in late June or early July the Vanguard will begin learning the music and the show that they will be performing for the fall competition season. In September the Vanguard will begin competition and will perform once or twice every Saturday, until the season ends.

             The Vanguard has also performed at many other events such as Disney parades, Peach Bowl Parades, Orange Bowl Parades, The Bahamas, The Pegasus Parade, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, as well as multiple other events to numerous to mention.
